What an intimate cellar show is like
El Paraigua's flamenco happens in a small vaulted stone cellar beneath a modernist bar: a modest stage, closely-set seating, and a tight cast of singer, dancer and guitarist just metres away. That means an intense, close-up, goosebumps kind of evening, with the footwork ringing off the stone and the singer's voice filling the enclosed room. It's a performance to feel, not just watch — and the tiny scale is exactly why it lands so hard.
Choosing your showtime
There are usually a limited number of shows an evening. Book an earlier slot if you want a long Catalan dinner afterwards, or a later one to cap off a day of sightseeing. Whichever you pick, aim to arrive a little ahead — seating inside the cellar tends to be first-come, and the small size means the good seats go early.
Where to sit
There isn't really a bad seat in a room this size, but the front is special — you're close enough to feel the zapateado through the floor and catch every flick of the wrist and turn of the head. If getting right up to the performers matters to you, come early and head for the front rows.
